Fashion as Art
Iryna Kavalenka considers herself an artist that creates wearable art. She has been pursuing her love of art since graduating from the Belarusian State Academy of Arts in different art forms such as oil painting, graphics, sculpture and batik. She applies all those experiences to the creation of her fashion collections.
Each one of her designs is one of a kind and a unique piece of art. Instead of paint and canvas she uses different fabrics with different patterns, textures, feel and flow. Using only natural materials, ranging from silk to fur, she is very concerned how the fabric feels on the skin and how it will rest on a woman’s body. She combines fabric with different textures and bold colorful patterns she often creates herself with solids.
Her designs have a specific European flair that is romantic and sometimes nostalgic but always with a new modern sensibility. They stand out through expert craftsmanship and exquisite detailing.
